The Rewilding Facial That Brings Nature to Your Skin
In ecological terms, rewilding refers to the process of restoring natural ecosystems; giving land and species space to return to their original, untamed state. It’s a regenerative approach, rooted in the belief that when we let nature take the lead, remarkable things can happen. With its new Rewilding Facial, Lush Spa takes that same philosophy and applies it not only to the products on your skin, but to the nervous system, too. Think of it as rewilding for both the planet and the self.
Having launched nationwide this spring, the 50-minute treatment blends sculpting facial massage with a reverence for the earth. Many of the ingredients used are tied directly to rewilding initiatives — from Fukushima’s regenerating rapeseed fields to reforestation efforts in Sumatra. But the true magic of the Rewilding Facial lies in its internal shift: a slow, sensory unravelling that coaxes the body out of high-alert mode and into stillness.
The ritual begins with a warm, double cleanse using Ultrabland or its vegan counterpart Ultraplant. Then comes a foaming cleanse with Drop of Hope, a soap containing rapeseed oil grown in soil once affected by nuclear disaster — a powerful nod to nature’s ability to renew. With each step, the therapist draws the client further out of modern overstimulation and into a quieter, more rooted state.
An Ayesha face mask, made with asparagus and patchouli oil, firms the skin while supporting forest regeneration in Indonesia. While it works, tension is melted away through deep neck and shoulder massage; long, knuckled strokes paired with warm pressure. The sculpting phase that follows uses Full of Grace serum, a blend of mushrooms and illipe butter rich in antioxidants. Through stretching, flicking and lifting, the therapist coaxes the face into a softened, luminous state.
As a final cool-down, a witch hazel and peppermint jelly mask is applied for cold therapy — a refreshing contrast that closes the treatment with clarity. A finishing layer of Gorgeous moisturiser, first formulated for Princess Diana, locks in hydration with organic oils and fresh fruit juices.
Even the soundtrack is a custom creation: an original suite of seasonal folk songs laced with birdsong, breeze, and the rustle of trees. Composed by Lush’s in-house band, Fresh Handmade Sound, it’s designed to feel like a walk through the woods. It’s grounding, melodic, and deeply human.
“In this treatment, we want the client to feel as though they are outside,” says Lush Spa treatment developer Jody Bailey. “It’s inspired by the concept of rewilding the skin, the client, and the earth we leave everything Lusher than we found it.”
The facial is fully adaptable for those with facial hair, with bespoke products and techniques designed to reach and condition the skin beneath. Beard brushing is included, leaving both skin and hair feeling cared for.
The Rewilding Facial offers something rare: visible results and a sense of rootedness, all in one quiet hour. It’s less about changing how you look, and more about reconnecting with how you feel.
The Rewilding Facial is now available at Lush Spas across the UK, priced at £125 for 50 minutes of immersive, skin-nourishing care. Book via the Lush app or contact your local Lush Spa directly by phone or email. For a full list of spa locations, visit lush.com.
