DCYPHER Custom Foundation Collection

DCYPHER Beauty has launched the next generation of its My Custom Foundation, introducing three new skincare-powered formulas that personalise both the shade and finish of each foundation to the individual.

Building on more than 90,000 bespoke foundation shades, the new Custom Foundation Collection expands DCYPHER’s approach to personalisation beyond colour matching, with separate Matte, Natural and Radiant formulas developed to address different skin types, finish preferences and complexion needs. Each foundation is custom-created using DCYPHER’s proprietary Beauty AI technology, which analyses the wearer’s skin tone, undertone, vibrancy and depth to generate an individual Skin Tone ID. Rather than matching the customer to an existing shade, the resulting foundation is mixed specifically for that person.

The technology can analyse skin from a smartphone or computer camera, with customers choosing their preferred coverage and finish before completing the skin scan. The personalised foundation is priced at £39 for 30ml.

Three formulas developed from the ground up

Rather than modifying one foundation base to produce different finishes, DCYPHER has developed three independent formulations.

The collection was created entirely in-house at the brand’s North West England laboratory over 18 months, undergoing more than 160 individual tests and hundreds of formulation iterations.

Testing involved a broad community spanning different ages and skin types, from dry to oily complexions, with feedback informing the final formulations. Each combines skincare actives, advanced pigment technology and long-wear formulation technology while maintaining the skin-like finish associated with DCYPHER foundations.

Custom Foundation Matte

Developed for complexions prone to excess oil, Custom Foundation Matte combines immediate shine control with ingredients intended to support the skin over time.

Kaolin helps absorb excess sebum, while Tripeptide Technology helps regulate oil production and reduce the appearance of pores and shine. Silica powders diffuse light to soften visible texture, while hyaluronic acid and glycerin maintain hydration and comfort.

The formula also contains Inclusium, an alfalfa seed active, to support the skin barrier and improve smoothness with continued use. Film-forming technology and surface-treated pigments help maintain colour integrity and wear throughout the day.

The result is a refined matte finish designed to control oil without leaving the complexion looking flat or compromising comfort.

Custom Foundation Radiant

Custom Foundation Radiant has been designed to reproduce the way healthy skin naturally reflects light, creating luminosity without excessive shine.

Light-reflecting pearls provide radiance, alongside a hydration complex combining hyaluronic acid and polyglutamic acid to maintain moisture and comfort throughout wear.

Inclusium supports the skin barrier over time, while film-forming technology helps retain an even, luminous finish throughout the day.

The finished effect is fresh, hydrated and naturally radiant without heaviness.

Custom Foundation Natural

Sitting between the Matte and Radiant options, Custom Foundation Natural has been developed to replicate the appearance of perfected natural skin.

A Ceramide-NP Complex works alongside hyaluronic acid, panthenol and glycerin to support barrier function and hydration, while Inclusium contributes to smoother and more refined-looking skin with continued use.

Natural-origin treated pigments help maintain colour fidelity, with film-forming technology supporting consistent coverage from morning to evening. The resulting finish is balanced, seamless and deliberately skin-like.

DCYPHER was founded by Ruth De Leo and Adam Brown, combining De Leo’s beauty industry experience with Brown’s technology expertise. Its Beauty AI was developed to analyse the individual characteristics of a person’s complexion and enable customised colour to be produced at scale, rather than relying on a conventional fixed shade range.

Ruth De Leo, Co-Founder of DCYPHER Beauty, said:

“When we launched DCYPHER, we proved that nobody should have to settle for the closest shade. This next chapter is about proving you shouldn't have to compromise on formulas either. Everyone's skin is different, so why should everyone wear the same foundation? We've spent time developing three completely independent formulas because personalised beauty should go beyond colour alone.”

The launch also coincides with DCYPHER’s move into physical retail through an exclusive partnership with John Lewis. The brand will make its high-street debut at the retailer’s Oxford Street flagship in August 2026, before expanding across the John Lewis estate through spring 2027. The in-store technology will analyse the customer’s complexion before their personalised product is mixed on demand, bringing a process previously accessed online into a physical beauty counter environment. Customers at selected John Lewis locations will also be able to watch their chosen My Custom Foundation being mixed in-store in under 60 seconds.

DCYPHER Beauty My Custom Foundation is priced at £39 for 30ml and is available online now, with the John Lewis retail rollout beginning in August 2026.
