CND UV-free Visible Light Lamp

CND has launched the Visible Light Lamp, a professional nail curing lamp that sets gel without UV or LED light, using a proprietary system the brand calls Visible Light Technology. It anchors a wider relaunch of CND's SHELLAC franchise.

The lamp cures all of CND's light-curable systems, including SHELLAC, PLEXIGEL and BRISA, using visible light in place of the UV or LED diodes found in conventional lamps. CND says visible light cures as effectively as UV while providing a gentler, UV-free process, and that it improves the cure of highly opaque coatings and higher-viscosity formulas and helps reduce wrinkling in more pigmented shades.

The lamp is cordless and rechargeable, with an ergonomic, stackable design and a removable baseplate for pedicures. It also has an optional red-light feature, which does not cure product but is intended to add a spa-like element to the service.

Alongside the lamp, CND has refreshed the SHELLAC line-up to around 149 shades, including six new retro-inspired colours and 10 returning professional favourites, plus two base coats and four top coats. The polishes move to a larger 0.42-ounce bottle, which CND says holds 68 per cent more product than the previous 0.25-ounce version, with front-facing shade labels. The system maintains 21-day wear and a fade-resistant finish, supports natural nail integrity, and offers fast removal when used with its Epic Smoothing Base.

The launch lands amid growing scrutiny of UV exposure during gel manicures, and CND is positioning visible-light curing as an alternative to the UV-LED systems used across much of the category.
