Kingdom Scotland Æthereal

Kingdom Scotland has unveiled Æthereal, its fifth eau de parfum, ahead of a November 2026 launch. Inspired by a Scottish forest at dusk, the new scent joins Metamorphic, Portal, Albaura and Kingdom Botanica in the independent fragrance house’s collection.

Æthereal opens with pink pepper, bergamot and juniper berry, followed by a heart of tuberose, mushroom accord and iris butter. Frankincense, cedarwood and sandalwood form the base. The mushroom accord adds a soft, suede-like quality to the composition, taking inspiration from mycelium, the fine fungal threads beneath the forest floor. It brings the textures of woodland into a fragrance centred on flowers and woods.

The name draws on the aether, the historical concept of an invisible medium through which light travelled, once supported by Edinburgh-born physicist James Clerk Maxwell. Its association with a fifth element provides the theme for the house’s fifth fragrance.

A high concentration of natural materials gives the perfume a faint and unique haze, caused by waxes and lipids that do not fully dissolve in alcohol. The vegan eau de parfum is handcrafted, matured and bottled in Scotland. Alongside the 50ml bottle, Æthereal will be offered in 7.5ml and 2ml sizes.

Launched in Edinburgh in 2018 by Imogen Russon-Taylor, Kingdom Scotland creates unisex perfumes inspired by Scotland’s landscapes and whisky heritage. Russon-Taylor’s background includes a 20-year career in luxury goods, notably whisky, which informs the house’s approach to fragrance. A proportion of the brand’s profits supports biodiversity research at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.
