Caudalie launches First-Ever haircare collection
Caudalie has launched its first-ever haircare collection, extending more than 30 years of vine-derived skincare research to the scalp with a new anti-hair loss and density-focused range. The debut collection comprises a Hair Density Serum and Density & Volume Shampoo, both powered by VineOxyl, a new patented active developed over six years in Caudalie’s formulation laboratory.
Rather than entering haircare with a broad cleansing and conditioning portfolio, Caudalie has focused its first range on hair thinning, density and scalp health, bringing the same active-led approach used across its skincare collections into a category increasingly shaped by scalp serums and skin-inspired treatment routines.
At the centre of the collection is VineOxyl, a proprietary patented active produced through biotechnology from grapeseed oil. The ingredient is derived from hydroxylated grapeseed oil and has been developed to support a healthier-looking scalp while improving the appearance of fuller, thicker and denser hair. Its development continues Caudalie’s longstanding work with vine-derived ingredients. The company was founded after Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas met Professor Joseph Vercauteren during the harvest at Château Smith Haut Lafitte in Bordeaux in 1993, leading to the development of its first grape-seed polyphenol products two years later.
The Hair Density Serum is a lightweight leave-in scalp treatment designed for hair affected by factors including stress, seasonal changes, ageing and postpartum shedding. VineOxyl is paired with soothing peptides derived from organic chia and pea seeds, selected for their antioxidant and scalp-soothing properties while supporting the appearance of denser hair.
Clinical testing over 90 days found a 53% reduction in hair loss, while separate dermatological scoring recorded an 87% increase in hair thickness, 37% improvement in density and 39% increase in volume after three months of daily use. The hair-loss study involved 36 volunteers, while the thickness, density and volume evaluation involved 39. The serum contains 99% ingredients of natural origin, is vegan and has a lightweight, non-greasy texture suitable for daily use.
The formula is also suitable for use during the postpartum period, a stage when temporary hair shedding can become particularly noticeable.
The second launch, Density & Volume Shampoo, brings VineOxyl into a rinse-off treatment designed to cleanse while supporting visibly fuller hair. The vegan formula contains 95% ingredients of natural origin and is free from sulphates and silicones. It is suitable for all hair types, including colour-treated hair, and has been developed to increase volume without weighing the lengths down. Instrumental testing involving 33 volunteers over 112 days recorded 6,298 additional visible hairs, while 100% of participants reported greater hair volume.
The shampoo can be used independently but has been developed to work as a complementary step alongside the leave-in serum, targeting both the appearance of the hair fibre during washing and longer-term scalp care through the daily treatment.
Both products are fragranced with a vegan aromatic concentrate made with 99% ingredients of natural origin, continuing the sensorial approach associated with Caudalie’s skincare while moving into scalp-focused formulas.
Caudalie’s move into hair reflects a wider convergence between skincare and haircare, with the scalp increasingly treated as an extension of the skin rather than simply the surface from which hair grows. Serums, peptides, antioxidants, biotechnology-derived actives and clinically measured density claims have moved beyond facial skincare into treatment-led hair routines, particularly within the thinning and hair-loss category.
For Caudalie, the shift is a natural extension of its laboratory model. Its Natural Formulation, Cellular and Molecular Biology Laboratories catalogue more than 750 ingredients and active compounds, with the development of exclusive grape-derived patents forming a central part of the company’s research strategy.
