Floris Purple Memoire

Floris London, Britain’s oldest family-run perfumery, has released Purple Mémoire, a scent rooted not in trend but in legacy. This new Eau de Parfum captures a quieter, more personal side of the brand’s 294-year history, drawing from the family’s own archive and memories of a garden once tended by generations past.

The inspiration comes from Ivy Lodge, the country retreat of Mary Anne Floris and James R.D. Bodenham, who led the house in the late 1800s. Their lavender-filled garden has been reimagined as a contemporary floral that combines comfort with intrigue. The result is a fragrance built around lavender and coriander, touched by bergamot, white florals, and orris, and finished with warm notes of vanilla, tonka, and sandalwood.

According to Roberta Ion, Perfume and Bespoke Manager at Floris, “Purple Mémoire is envisioned as a bold lavender fragrance while maintaining the British heritage of the ingredient. The gourmand notes of cacao and vanilla speak to the fragrant sensibilities of a new generation of Floris customer.”

It’s this balance between old and new that defines the scent. Lavender leads, but is softened and deepened by a skin-close drydown. It avoids the overly nostalgic territory that often clings to heritage launches, and instead feels lived-in, worn with intention.

Purple Mémoire Eau de Parfum is available now from florislondon.com and at the brand’s Jermyn Street boutique.
