ESK Evidence Skincare Enlighten Gold
ESK Evidence Skincare has introduced Enlighten Gold, a new serum formulated to target uneven pigmentation patterns including sunspots, melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, while maintaining a strong focus on barrier support and long-term tolerability.
The next-generation serum for stubborn pigmentation is designed for daily use across sensitive skin profiles, including delicate menopausal skin, rosacea-prone skin, skin of colour, acne-prone skin, post-procedure skin and use during pregnancy.
Enlighten Gold combines:
4-n-Butylresorcinol (0.3%), a highly effective tyrosinase inhibitor targeting excess melanin production
Gluconolactone (3%), a polyhydroxy acid (PHA) intended to support cell turnover and improve clarity with minimal irritation
Niacinamide (5%), included to support barrier strength, address uneven tone and improve overall resilience
Pigmentation is both slow-moving and emotionally burdensome for consumers, with common triggers such as UV exposure, hormonal change, inflammation from acne or aggressive treatments, and genetics. Founder Dr Ginni Mansberg adds: “We searched for a tyrosinase inhibitor that was super effective but non irritating with no risk of rebound pigmentation or skin staining and could be used long term. Finding a hero pigmentation product that can be used on delicate menopausal skin, rosacea skin, skin of colour, acne prone skin, post-procedure, and even in pregnancy was quite the ask. Enlighten Gold is the result of years of research. We are thrilled with the results.”
Mansberg also highlights 4-n-butylresorcinol as a key hero, stating: “4-n-butylresorcinol is the Goldilocks of tyrosinase inhibitors. Very strong inhibition of tyrosinase so great pigment control but gentle enough for daily use- long term. Some initial studies suggested that the more powerful 0.3% 4NB serums could be irritating in some people, so we paired our 0.3% 4NB with barrier builders including 5% niacinamide and moisturisers like gluconolactone.”
For best results, Enlighten Gold is recommended as a morning serum, followed by sunscreen. At night, it is recommended alongside ESK Ultimate A Gold, a companion product combining retinal, 4-n-butylresorcinol, lactobionic acid, ceramides and hyaluronic acid, to support pigmentation management and barrier function.
