Salon Owners Need to Have Their Say on National Minimum Wage Autumn Budget 2025
The British Hair Consortium is asking for employers to cast their votes on the potential national minimum wage increase in the autumn budget.
The Department for Business and Low Pay Commission has specifically asked The British Hair Consortium to gather feedback from the industry, making this an essential chance to contribute to any decision making.
The Government is expected to announce big changes, with the National Minimum Wage potentially rising to between £12.71 & £12.86 per hour, with all age bands scrapped. This would mean every worker, no matter their age, would be on the same rate. Apprentices are also expected to see another increase.
Now, the The British Hair Consortium urgently needs the industry to share their views on this. Results must be submitted by the 12th September, so employers must have their say now.
It needs to know:
What would an increased National Minimum Wage between £12.71 & £12.86 mean for your business?
How would removing age bands impact your ability to hire younger staff?
What would higher wage costs mean for apprenticeships in your salon?
“This is your chance to have your say before decisions are made. Please take 2 minutes to complete our short survey – your input is vital to show Government the real impact on salon businesses like yours,” said Toby Dicker from The British Hair Consortium.
The survey can be accessed here.
