Renew + Me Ultra-Rich Proprietary Base Cream

Renew + Me has launched a new ultra-rich proprietary base cream, a skin recovery system developed to help patients tolerate higher-strength tretinoin without compromising the skin barrier.

Landmark clinical studies from the 1990s and 2000s established that topical tretinoin is an effective long-term treatment for visible signs of ageing, with strengths of 0.025% and 0.05% showing a 20 to 35% reduction in the appearance of wrinkles. The challenge has always been tolerability. At evidence-based strengths, tretinoin causes irritation, redness and barrier disruption in many patients, which often leads them to reduce their strength or abandon treatment altogether before results are achieved.

The base cream is designed to sit around the tretinoin to minimise that irritation and allow patients to progress to working strengths more comfortably. The formula combines hexapeptides to soften fine lines and support skin repair; hyaluronic acid for hydration; vitamin E to defend against oxidative stress; bisabolol to calm redness and sensitivity; ectoin to reduce inflammation; oat kernel to soothe; and a ceramide lipid complex to protect and reinforce the barrier.

Each Renew + Me prescription is individually compounded by a specialist London pharmacy in collaboration with Dr Malvina Cunningham, the consultant dermatologist who developed the service. Compounding allows complete control over strength and progression, allowing formulations to be adjusted to each patient's skin response over time rather than moving through fixed off-the-shelf increments. All existing customers of the Renew + Me Nightly-Active-Treatment are being transitioned to the new formulation.

Dr Cunningham graduated with honours from University College London, completed her dermatology training at leading London teaching hospitals and specialises in skin ageing, acne and inflammatory dermatology across the NHS and private practice. Her clinical and academic work has earned national and international recognition, with widely published research across dermatology.
