Novuma Launches in the UK

VIVACY has brought NOVUMA, a calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) collagen biostimulator, to the UK market, marking the French injectable maker's move into biostimulators alongside its STYLAGE hyaluronic acid filler range. NOVUMA is developed by the Turkish biotechnology company Burgeon Biotechnology, with VIVACY handling the UK rollout under a strategic partnership between the two companies.

NOVUMA is an injectable biostimulating gel whose CaHA microspheres act as a scaffold that, VIVACY says, stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen. The microspheres are gradually broken down and absorbed, leaving a network of new collagen fibres behind, with the aim of restoring skin density and firmness and providing longer-lasting structural support rather than immediate volume alone. It is a Class III CE-marked medical device intended for administration by appropriately trained and qualified healthcare professionals.

The gel is made from calcium hydroxyapatite concentrated at 55 to 60 per cent by weight in a carboxymethylcellulose carrier. VIVACY attributes the particles' smooth, spherical form to a proprietary process it calls Advanced BioSphere Technology, which it says supports effective collagen stimulation while keeping inflammation controlled. NOVUMA carries a higher CaHA content than other biostimulators on the market, and features an updated packaging with a revised syringe design for improved ease of delivery in clinical practice.

NOVUMA is available in the UK through HealthXchange, John Bannon, Wigmore Medical and Church Pharmacy. Complimentary advanced training is offered through VITAE by VIVACY for practitioners buying ten boxes or more in a single transaction via HealthXchange, subject to approval, with those buying through other pharmacies advised to contact their supplier about training. VIVACY says training is limited to advanced practitioners proficient in cannula-based techniques.

VIVACY Laboratoires is a French premium injectable manufacturer founded in 2007 and headquartered in Paris, best known for its STYLAGE hyaluronic acid fillers. Burgeon Biotechnology, which developed NOVUMA, is an Ankara-based biotechnology company founded in 2017 that specialises in biostimulatory injectables.
