Dr.Althea Retinol Flat Iron Eye Roller

South Korean beauty brand Dr. Althea has expanded its performance-led skincare range with the launch of the Retinol Flat Iron Eye Roller. The new eye serum is designed to bridge the gap between clinical ingredient efficacy and traditional Asian wellness rituals by incorporating a gua sha-style applicator.

The launch coincides with Dr. Althea's broader international expansion, following the brand's H1 2025 entry into Boots UK and a planned rollout to over 1,000 Ulta Beauty stores in the United States by February 2026.

The Retinol Flat Iron Eye Roller features a metal, gua sha-style applicator that provides a cooling sensation upon contact. This "flat iron" design is intended to physically lift and smooth the eye area while the formula works to improve skin elasticity.

The serum is powered by Cica Retisome (5%), a specialized repair complex that encapsulates pure retinol to deliver the ingredient deeper into the dermis with reduced irritation.

Key ingredients include:

  • Retinol Concentration: 1,000ppm (0.1%) of pure Vitamin A to boost collagen and refine texture.

  • Bakuchiol: A plant-derived retinol alternative that helps mitigate oxidative stress and potential redness often associated with Vitamin A.

  • Triple Peptide Complex: A blend of Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Acetyl Hexapeptide-1, and Acetyl Tetrapeptide-5 to relax fine lines and reduce the appearance of dark circles.

  • Wax-Free Formula: An intentionally lightweight, pastel-yellow serum designed for rapid absorption without leaving a heavy residue on delicate skin.

The product uses an integrated tube and roller format to ensure a hygienic application process. A "smart over-cap" feature has been implemented to automatically stop the dispensing of the serum when the cap is closed, preventing product waste and leakage during travel.

In consumer trials, users noted the product's ability to reduce morning puffiness and its fast absorption, which allows it to be used effectively under makeup. The fragrance-free and vegan formulation caters to the brand's core demographic of users with sensitive skin.
