Totally Derma Launches Regenerative Aesthetics and Wellness Council
Totally Derma has set up a new expert council to strengthen the scientific case for nutraceutical collagen supplementation in clinical aesthetics. The Regenerative Aesthetics and Wellness (RAW) Council brings together specialists in nutrition, orthopaedics, skin health and women's medicine. The initiative is intended to support the company's credibility in the professional aesthetics sector while underpinning its move into direct-to-consumer channels.
The council has been set up at a time when clinics are increasingly combining injectables, devices and nutraceuticals within single treatment protocols. Totally Derma said the group would provide practitioners with expert-backed validation for incorporating collagen supplementation into patient care, and would also work to raise standards in a category it says often lacks clinical credibility.
The council line-up
The council is made up of four members.
May Simpkin MSc, a nutritionist with a Master's in personalised nutrition and more than a decade of clinical experience, specialises in inflammation, gut dysfunction and systemic health. "In practice, we are increasingly seeing the gut-skin axis play a central role in outcomes," she said. "Supporting gut integrity using targeted nutrition, including well-formulated nutraceutical collagen supplementation, has the ability to enhance skin health, help address inflammation and improve patient results."
Consultant surgeon Mr Lorenzo Garagnani MBE, medical director of SE1 Medical and an academic at King's College London, works across NHS institutions and private practice. "From both an orthopaedic and aesthetic perspective, connective tissue health is fundamental," he said. "Collagen peptides combined with hyaluronic acid offer a relevant adjunct to support joint function, recovery and long-term tissue resilience, particularly in active or ageing patients."
Advanced facialist Smita Ahluwalia, who has more than 30 years of experience in skin health, said combination approaches were becoming standard in clinic. "Supporting patients with a high-quality ingestible such as Totally Derma can help enhance outcomes, particularly in skin quality, healing and long-term maintenance," she said.
Dr Sophie Bracke, an obstetrics and gynaecology registrar focused on hormonal health and regenerative aesthetics, pointed to the effect of hormonal change on tissue condition. "Hormonal fluctuations have a significant impact on collagen production, tissue integrity and hydration," she said. "A clinically coherent supplement allows practitioners to take a more thorough, preventative approach to patient care."
Remit and activity
Totally Derma said the council's work would cover practitioner education and training, patient consultation support tools, expert-led digital and social content, and industry thought leadership and events.
The brand's formulation contains high-dose enzymatically hydrolysed collagen peptides, hyaluronic acid and a blend of antioxidants. Totally Derma, which has its medical heritage in osteoarthritis, said the council established a point of difference for a collagen product grounded in clinical expertise rather than a retail-led proposition.
