Skin Life Analytics, a UK-based spin-out from Newcastle University, has officially launched its innovative skin health testing service. Specialising in non-invasive skin assessments, the company focuses on identifying mitochondrial damage, a key factor in premature skin ageing. This groundbreaking technology allows aesthetic clinics and skincare brands to detect skin damage at a cellular level before it becomes visibly apparent.
Developed over 15 years by Professor Mark Birch-Machin and his team, Skin Life Analytics’ test provides a comprehensive analysis of skin ageing, including the impact of lifestyle factors such as UV exposure, pollution, and sleep deprivation. By measuring mitochondrial DNA damage, the service helps consumers and professionals make more informed decisions about treatments and interventions.
With its headquarters in Newcastle's Helix innovation district, the company collaborates with aesthetic clinics and cosmetic brands to offer bespoke solutions for skin health. This service is set to revolutionise how both the skincare industry and individuals approach anti-ageing treatments, offering tailored care based on precise, scientific data.
