Penhaligon's to Host Archival 'Eau So British' Exhibition

If you've ever dreamed of stepping inside the scented halls of Penhaligon’s storied past, now’s your chance. In celebration of its 155th anniversary, the iconic British fragrance house is opening its private archives to the public for the very first time - but only for one day.

On Saturday 17th May, fragrance lovers can head to 3 Hanover Square, London, for a rare and immersive exhibition titled ‘Eau So British’, offering an intimate look into the brand’s evolution from Victorian barber to globally admired fragrance authority.

Curated with both long-standing devotees and curious newcomers in mind, the exhibition promises a journey through time, scent, and craftsmanship. On display will be never-before-seen artefacts, early formulations, founders’ sketches, and original materials that shaped many of the house’s most beloved fragrances - including the cult classics being re-released this year in celebration of the milestone.

Visitors can also browse a limited-edition gift shop, featuring exclusive products inspired by the brand’s historical archives and signature shade, William’s Green - now a registered Pantone and visual cornerstone of Penhaligon’s evolving identity.

“This is more than a look back — it’s an invitation to experience the artistry and evolution of the brand like never before,” said Julia Koeppen, General Manager of Penhaligon’s. “Our 155th anniversary is a truly pivotal moment — a celebration of everything we’ve built, and a bold step forward into our future.”

As part of its wider anniversary programming, Penhaligon’s is also relaunching five beloved scents from its archives and collaborating with contemporary artists and craftsmen to honour Britain’s eccentric creative heritage. But this exhibition is undoubtedly the crown jewel — a fleeting but unforgettable glimpse behind the scenes of one of perfumery’s most enduring names.

Entry is free, but bookings are essential, you can book here.
