The Body Shop relaunches Body Butter range
The Body Shop is relaunching its cult Body Butter collection with 11 reformulated variants designed around different skin types, textures and moisture needs.
First introduced in 1992, Body Butter became one of The Body Shop’s most recognisable products and helped popularise the body butter category. The updated collection will launch on 8 September with new textures, faster-absorbing formulas and up to 72 hours of hydration.
At the centre of the relaunch is a simplified, texture-led system intended to help customers select a formula according to their skin’s needs, rather than choosing by fragrance alone. Lightweight creams including British Rose, Satsuma and Almond Milk have been created for normal to dry skin. The formulas absorb quickly and leave a dewy finish without a heavy or greasy residue. For dry skin, richer creams such as Olive offer a more intensive level of hydration while retaining a texture that melts easily into the skin.
The Shea Body Butter has been reformulated as a nourishing balm for dry to very dry skin. Its scoopable texture contains 14% Community Fair Trade shea butter and is designed to visibly condition rough, dry areas while leaving a subtle sheen. For ultra-dry and sensitive skin, the Hemp Body Butter provides the collection’s heaviest texture. The barrier-supporting formula contains essential omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and delivers up to 48 hours of moisture.
The reformulation also addresses the visible white cast that richer body moisturisers can leave on darker skin tones, with the new collection developed to absorb without leaving a pale residue.
Each tub is made using Community Fair Trade recycled plastic, while ingredients are sourced through The Body Shop’s trade partnerships in Ghana, Samoa and India.
The complete colletion launches on 8 September 2026.
