Moddershall Oaks Celebrates 25 Years With £4m Investment Planned For 2026
This month marks a major milestone for Moddershall Oaks as the award-winning spa and wellness retreat celebrates 25 years in business. What began as a family-owned vision in the heart of the Staffordshire countryside has grown into a multi-million-pound wellness destination, recognised nationally for its nature-connected experiences, innovative wellbeing offering, and continued contribution to the region’s visitor economy.
Set within 72 acres of private woodland and lakeside surroundings, Moddershall Oaks has spent a quarter of a century redefining how the UK engages with modern wellbeing. Evolving from a single-building family home into a diversified luxury retreat, the business now delivers a full ecosystem of experiences, from spa days and indulgent lakeside stays to state-of-the-art wellness treatments, fitness programmes, curated retreats and large-scale events.
Over the past 25 years, Moddershall Oaks has experienced significant and sustained growth, welcoming well over 100,000 guests annually expanding its on-site offering, and becoming one of Staffordshire’s leading independent wellness employers. Its team has grown to more than 140 employees.
In the last five years alone, Moddershall Oaks has invested more than £3 million into expanding its facilities with a further £4 million earmarked for next year, introducing new wellbeing concepts and upgrading its infrastructure.
As part of this anniversary year, the retreat has unveiled its most ambitious development to date: the design-led Woodland Pods; architecturally crafted cabins that represent the next generation of luxury, nature-rooted stays. Hidden within the estate’s woodland, the Pods mark a meaningful step in Moddershall Oaks’ long-term expansion roadmap, which includes new wellness modalities, future-proofed retreat spaces and digitally enhanced wellbeing programmes.
This forward-thinking approach is one of the key reasons Moddershall Oaks has retained its position as a leading UK destination for wellness tourism. As the national appetite for restorative, nature-based experiences continues to rise, the retreat remains at the forefront, earning major industry awards and regular coverage across national lifestyle titles.
Penny Weston, Director of Moddershall Oaks, said: "Reaching this 25-year milestone is incredibly meaningful for us as a family and for the whole 140-strong team we’ve become. Moddershall Oaks was built from a passion for creating a place where people could come to feel better in their bodies, their minds, and ultimately, their lives generally. We’ve faced challenges, including the devastating floods earlier this year, but those moments have only strengthened our commitment to our community and our purpose."
