Hair & Beauty Charity launches Wear Purple Day to support industry professionals facing hardship

The Hair & Beauty Charity has launched a fundraising campaign to help industry professionals and their families facing illness, bereavement and financial hardship. The new initiative, Wear Purple Day, will run during the week beginning Monday 2 November 2026, with donations supporting the charity’s practical and financial assistance.

The charity helps people whose circumstances have left them unable to meet basic living costs. Its beneficiaries include people affected by illness or disability, those with caring responsibilities and people experiencing homelessness or fleeing domestic violence.

Jayne Lewis-Orr, president of the Hair & Beauty Charity, said the campaign was designed to enable people across hairdressing, barbering and beauty to contribute.

“Wear Purple Day is designed for everyone to get involved. You don't need a big team, a budget or weeks of planning, if you work in hair, barbering or beauty, you can take part.

“Paint your nails, put on a purple jumper, colour your hair, get your clients involved, and have some fun. The money raised goes straight to people in our industry who are having the hardest time of their lives, so the more of us who join in, the more people we can help.”

Salons, barbershops and individual professionals can choose a day during the campaign week to take part, using purple clothing, accessories, make-up, nails or hair. Clients can also join fundraising activities.

Donations can be made through the Hair & Beauty Charity website. Professionals who need assistance can also apply online, with financial support available to UK residents and applications assessed according to individual circumstances.
