Preventative Botox: Will The Trend Last?

By the end of 2020, over 1.5m of UK residents have had non-surgical anti-wrinkle treatments like Botox injections or fillers. That’s no small figure, and it proves that any stigma around Botox or other aesthetic procedures is certainly a thing of the past.

Behind these numbers is the reality that aging is a process that few of us can slow down with just good skincare and a healthy lifestyle - which is one of the reasons why so many of us press the pause button on wrinkles and frown lines with Botox. But what if we could prevent ourselves getting the wrinkles in the first place - now wouldn’t that be ideal!

Preventative measures

The good news is that by using Botox a little earlier or before lines appear, (known as Preventative Botox) we can indeed slow down the effects and onset of wrinkles. In fact, there has been a noticeable shift in recent years towards Preventative Botox by customers all over the World.

Interestingly, the number of women aged between 19 and 34 having Botox has risen by 41% since 2011, according to studies by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Across the UK today patients age vary from people in their twenties right up to their nineties, proving that more and more customers are getting Botox at every age.

Thérapie Clinic, Europe’s number 1 Botox provider, known as the new go to Botox destination Clinic across the UK, are fans of the merits of preventative Botox.

Phillip McGlade, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, thinks preventative Botox will only continue to grow in popularity. He comments, “because Botox has now been around for almost 20 years, there’s definitely been more of an acceptance of its place in the anti-aging market. But as well as that there’s been a pivotal shift in how we look at our faces over the last number of years, and also how we perceive ourselves and others. There is no longer a stigma attached to Botox or other types of fillers, in fact we can now see first-hand that Botox is very effective in the treatment of wrinkles and it’s the top performing anti-aging treatment the World over for very good reason.

Also as a nation we’re more in tune with what our skin needs, we look after it with good products and great daily routines, and aesthetically we know if we go to an experienced Doctor led Botox Clinic, that the results can be amazing, so it’s no surprise to me that preventative Botox has become so popular.

Lines get deeper and deeper with age, if you start getting Botox early enough and it’s done properly, you’re not going to need as much in the future. The key here is to research providers, look for excellent customer reviews and always, always look for World Class, Doctor led professionals to administer your treatment.”

What’s the ideal age to get Botox?

“That’s not an easy one to answer”, says Dr. Paul Reddy, the Surgeon who leads Thérapie’s highly-skilled professional team. His experience as one of the UK and Ireland’s top Aesthetic Doctors speaks for itself.

“When you should start depends on lots of factors like your lifestyle as well as your skin type, but essentially there is no right or wrong age to get the treatment. Do your research and have a consultation with a well established, World Class clinic if you’re interested in getting more information. You can start preventative Botox treatment at any age, but essentially the procedure is a non invasive, non permanent way to help us look like we’ve had a good night’s sleep, and to give our skin a healthy glow, and that can be done at any age.”
