The beauty industry across England will be closed until at least mid-February following the Prime Minister's announcement on the 4th of January 2021. Mainland Scotland has moved into a similar lockdown that is expected to last until February but will be reviewed at the end of this month. Tier 4 lockdown restrictions came into force from 00:01 05/01/2021.

To support the beauty industry, Rishi Sunak has announced that the retail, hospitality and leisure industry (in which the personal sector is counted) are to receive a one-off grant worth up to £9,000 per property, specifically;

£4,000 for businesses with a rateable value of £15,000 or under
£6,000 for businesses with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000
£9,000 for businesses with a rateable value of over £51,000

This financial support is in addition to the schemes already announced by the government.
