Gina Conway Closes Notting Hill and Fulham Locations

Multi-award winning salon owner Gina Conway has announced a restructuring of her salon group, saying, “with the repercussions of Covid, energy price hikes and the cost of living crisis, combined with a series of expensive structural issues in both my Notting Hill and Fulham locations, it’s with a heavy heart that I’ve had to make the very difficult decision to close these two salons, with immediate effect.

"This is not a decision I've taken lightly; I’ve loved every minute of my 22-year journey with my talented supportive teams and loyal guests. However, our flagship Wimbledon location will remain open and thriving – it’s a super salon located within Elys, the fabulous destination department store in Wimbledon, with top brand name shopping, restaurant, cafe, nail bar, brow bar, massive cosmetic floor featuring brands such as MAC, Tom Ford, Kate Spade, The White Company, Barbour and of course our talented team here at Gina Conway all under one roof.

”I’m not the first salon to have to close a location, and part of being a successful business owner is knowing when to restructure to respond to economic changes. Realistically, Covid hit hard, it cost me £288k just to stay closed (approximately £1000 a day for 288 days), and with the continued pressures on businesses and consumers through cost of living and the energy price hikes it just isn’t viable to maintain all 3 London salons.

“That said, I'm now full time in Wimbledon and excited to focus on one super project where we have some really exciting and innovative plans for our future. The Wimbledon salon was a multi-million pound renovation in 2019 and offers a state-of-the-art experience, including a Blow Dry Bar, hair and scalp consultations, an Aveda retail counter, beautiful spa rooms, comfortable shampoo beds and a luxurious waiting area offering bottomless teas, coffees, and a charging station as well as use of ipads. So, while it’s sad to say goodbye to the two salons, it’s going to enable growth of the brand in our flagship location where most of our Notting Hill and Fulham team members will be relocating to going forward.”
