Forma: The Non-Invasive Face Lift

We recently visited Dr. David Jack to try the Forma by Inmode treatment, a treament beloved by celebrities like Britney Spears, Kim Kardashian and Emma Roberts. So what is this latest facial craze all about and why is the treatment so groundbreaking?

What exactly is the Forma facial?

Forma is a skin tightening and lifting treatment suitable for all skin types that uses radiofrequency (RF) to support the production of new collagen and elastin; rejuvenating, lifting and sculpting the skin. The Forma treatment is carried out by the multi-tasking Inmode machine. Auto-adjusted radio-frequency energy targets deep layers of the skin which stimulates the formation of new collagen and improves skin elasticity.

The treatment can range between 30 - 60 minutes. This makes it a great quick fix treatment during your lunch break or it can be part of a lengthier treatment like the Hydratite facial which is composed of a Hydrafacial and Forma treatment for the ultimate pampering experience.

What are the effects?

Immediately after the treatment, you can expect the skin to be red from the heat of the wand which delivers radiofrequency waves. The redness typically subsides within the hour and there are no risks or negative side effects involved with the treatment thanks to the machine’s auto-adjustment settings. Since the treatment is non-invasive, there is also no downtime so you can expect to be back up and running immediately after.

Commonly treated areas include the forehead, around the eyes (to target crow’s feet), upper eyelids, lower eyelids, jowls, smile lines and neck and the results are always; your skin is visibly brighter, your jaw is more defined, and overall, your face does indeed look lifted.

Does the treatment hurt?

While the handpiece will heat up to around 42°C, the treatment remains painless, those more sensitive to heat can find it somewhat uncomfortable, especially around delicate areas like the eyes. To prevent discomfort, you can ask for numbing gel, and the heat settings can be lowered to avoid any pain.

How long do the results last?

With just one treatment, the results can last for a few weeks, however, depending on your goal, it’s best to do multiple sessions. With a series of sessions and yearly maintenance, results can last up to 4 years. As such, Dr. David Jack Clinic recommends that weekly sessions are performed over a six-week period. Individuals with mild laxity may be treated in fewer sessions with more weeks between each treatment.
