A Deep Dive into Eurovision 2023's Winner Loreen's Nails

Loreen has triumphed at Eurovision 2023, getting Sweden another win in a nail-biting finale. But one topic of conversation in every sentence with Loreen was also - her legendary nails. The nails, made of stone rocked the show, so we spoke to Danielle Lundgren (@nailsbyfrikiki) the artist behind the “Tattoo” nail set.

How did you get to work on this set?

I was asked to do Loreen’s Eurovision nails after we did a photoshoot together. Loreen told me that the theme of her performance would be ”Dune” inspired.

In an interview with ViceUK, Loreen said "the performance is a reminder of nature: My nails are made out of stone, I'm laying in a sand bed; there's the sky, the mist and the wind..." We can certainly see the rawness of the nails created by Danielle with Loreen’s vision.

What was the process of creating the nails? We can imagine it was a time-consuming few sets!

We also talked about a colour scheme inspired by a smokey quartz crystal. I bought one and took it apart and involved them in the nails. I wanted it to look dirty and organic but still glam. For Eurovision I made 5 sets of nails which took me around 2 weeks to make as every set was different in crystals and colours.

Looking at the nails, and how each set is so unique and detailed, and the ethereal look about them, we’d say they were worth every moment!
