4 Tips on How To Lift Your Face With Makeup

Internationally renowned makeup artist, and owner of Ayu Cosmetics, Suzie O’Neill has sat down with us to share her top tip on how to create the illusion of a lifted and sculpted face with makeup alone. If you’re not a fan of needles - this is your sign to forget surgery.

  1. Base.

To begin with, you will want to even out your skin tone so you can start with a blank canvas. I love the Ayu Fresh Skin Foundation, to give a flawless, yet natural finish.

  2. Conceal/Brighten. This step is arguably the most important as it is now that we will give our face a natural lift. Taking an undereye concealer, like the award-winning Ayu Instant Undereye Concealer - a half to one full shade lighter than your foundation, (anything more will be obvious) and apply in an inverted triangle under the eyes. Bring the concealer out to the tops of your cheekbones too - this will add height and with it being slightly lighter than your base it will lift the area. Tap in until it has blended well with your foundation.

  3. Shade. I always tell people make-up is all about the trickery of light and shade. What we want to highlight or lift we brighten and what we want to hide/ or make look smaller we shade which helps it blend in. So now we want to add some sculpt to the cheekbones to give the illusion of a more defined face shape. Taking a contour tone, something like Ayu Contour cream, apply from the middle of your ear in towards your nose. Stop about half way in. By starting at the ear you will have a natural fade out of product to the face which will allow for a more natural finish and not a block of colour.

  4. Blush. Add a touch of blush to the cheeks for some colour and that is it! The higher you place your blush, the more of a lift you will create (i.e. on the tops of your cheekbones). Super easy yet super effective. The key is in the colour and placement!
