Sheila Abrahams, a trailblazer in the world of freelance hairdressing and the visionary founder of the Freelance Hairdressers Association (FHA), has been awarded the prestigious Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her remarkable contributions to the freelance hairdressing industry.

The MBE, announced in the King's New Year Honours List, recognizes Sheila Abrahams for her unwavering dedication to supporting and uplifting freelance hairdressers across the nation. With over three decades of commitment to the industry, Abrahams has played a pivotal role in fostering a sense of community, providing education, and advocating for the rights and interests of freelance hairdressers.

Established in 1993, the Freelance Hairdressers Association has flourished under Sheila’s' leadership, becoming a beacon of support for thousands of freelance professionals. Sheila has been instrumental in creating a platform that not only empowers freelance hairdressers with resources and education but also advocates for fair treatment and recognition within the broader beauty industry.

Commenting on the recognition, Sheila Abrahams expressed her gratitude, stating, "30 years ago it was a dream now it is reality. It has been a fantastic journey and I would like to thank all of those who helped me through the years. I am delighted that professional freelancers are now where they should be, an integral part of our industry."
