Estée Lauder Companies Makes London Its New Hair Care Power Base with appointment of Kathleen Mitchell as VP and GM or Hair Care Hub - West

The Estée Lauder Companies is placing London at the centre of its next phase of hair care growth, establishing a new global Hair Care Hub and appointing Kathleen Mitchell to lead it as vice president and general manager, Hair Care Hub – West.

The London-based operation will cover the UK and Ireland, Europe, the Middle East, Turkey and India, bringing leadership, commercial strategy and local market expertise together within one regional centre of excellence. Its remit is to strengthen the company’s hair care portfolio and develop the capabilities and market-specific strategies required to support sustainable growth across a varied group of territories.

Mitchell will report directly to Shane Wolf, global brand president of Aveda and Hair Care Brands. She will also join both the Global Hair Care Leadership Team and the UK and Ireland Executive Leadership Team.

In the newly created role, Mitchell will oversee the hub’s central team and work closely with the company’s global leadership on portfolio strategy, localisation and commercial development. The appointment signals a more dedicated regional approach to hair care within the wider Estée Lauder Companies portfolio, which includes professional and prestige brands such as Aveda and Bumble and bumble.

“Kathleen’s appointment reflects our strengthened commitment to Hair Care and our investment in the leadership, capabilities and regional focus required to accelerate growth,” says Wolf. “Her deep experience across professional beauty, retail and omnichannel environments makes her ideally placed to lead the new Hair Care Hub from London and build momentum across the portfolio.”

Mitchell joins the company with more than 25 years of leadership experience across beauty, retail and consumer brands in the UK, Europe and the US. Her career includes more than 14 years in professional hair care, where she led brand and commercial initiatives across several markets, introduced brands into new territories and developed digital and business-to-business approaches to customer engagement.

She most recently served as commercial director at John Lewis, leading category strategy across fashion, beauty, home and technology. Before this, Mitchell held senior positions at Stella & Dot, where she helped scale the company across European markets before taking on wider global responsibilities.

Beyond the appointment itself, the creation of the hub is a notable vote of confidence in London’s position within the international beauty industry. The city will now act as the base from which Estée Lauder Companies develops hair care strategy across markets stretching from Western Europe to India, drawing on the UK’s concentration of retail expertise, professional influence and international talent.

The new structure also gives hair care a more defined leadership position inside a company best known for its extensive skincare, make-up and fragrance portfolio. By combining global brand direction with greater regional focus, the hub is intended to help Estée Lauder Companies respond more closely to differences in consumer behaviour, professional markets and retail channels across its territories.
